Jhon Jay’s family recently transferred their residence near his relative's house in Ormoc City. Jhon Jay lives with his parents and has three sisters. He is the only one who is deaf in the family, but he has a relative on his father's side who is also deaf/mute. At home they have made improvised signs in the household to communicate better with him. To provide for the family, Jhon Jay's father works as a laborer while his mother tends to the family and home. He is a playful young boy who enjoys being together with his friends. In school, he enjoys learning English.
